About this event
A workshop for those who want to become ‘Expert Parent Carer’s in the Heath System so they can support their own children. Whether you are just beginning your journey or already working with the health system, this course is designed to help you feel more confident. It’s written by parent carers, for parent carers.
The Expert Parent Programme is a package of training sessions from Council For Disabled Children. The scope of the programme is to help parent carers understand and navigate health systems, feel more confident, improve relationships with professionals and just generally understand the system better to improve confidence. It recognises that parents are the expert (hence the name) and focusses a lot on using outcomes based language to help parents advocate and also understand where a child fits in the system. It also covers how to make complaints and knowing when things aren’t right. This is for any parent carers of a child or young person with SEND in Hull who wants to understand Health systems. This will upskill and enhance both Forum Reps and PCF members knowledge as well as helping all parent carers navigate the Health system.
This is an online workshop via Zoom. The session is 9.30 -12.30 with a comfort break.
