We are so lucky to have Professor Andy Bilson, Emeritus Professor of Social Work, University of Central Lancashire attending the forum on MONDAY 7th MARCH 10.00 till 12.00.
Professor Andy Bilson will present on 2 subjects: Child protection and FII ( fabricated and induced illness ) see below
He will be joined by Taliah Drayak, who is director of the International Parent Advocacy Network and is a parent with children with a disability and has experience of being accused of FII which she successfully challenged.
CHILD PROTECTION TRENDS – Professor Andy Bilson, Emeritus Professor of Social Work, University of Central Lancashire, will present research which shows a dramatic increase in child protection investigations leading to a situation in which one child in every 16 in England is investigated before their fifth birthday. He specifically shows data both locally and nationally and looks at trends within this data.
FII ( Fabricated and induced illness) In this presentation he will discuss critical evaluation of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health guidance, and publications by Bass and Glaser, on FII. Review of health and social work policy and practice and suggestions of ways that these can change so that children’s social care can play an important role in protecting children from both fabricated illness and the harms caused by mis-identification.
